Board Certified Doctor of Audiology

Samuel Smith joined Expert Hearing Care as a fourth-year extern and is now a full-time audiologist on the team. He has a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing science with a minor in American Sign Language from the University of Iowa and earned his audiology doctorate there as well.

In addition to his time with us during his academic career, Dr. Smith performed various rotations in the Iowa City and Davenport areas. These included private-practice audiology clinics, ENT diagnostic clinics, a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital, and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Cochlear Implant and Audiology Department.

Helping people reconnect with family and friends, music, and their environment in ways they hadn’t for years is especially rewarding for Dr. Smith, who appreciates being able to see patients succeed in areas of their lives where they previously struggled.

When not helping others hear and live their best, Dr. Smith loves getting outside to hike and explore nature. He also enjoys painting (a hobby picked up during the pandemic), pottery, and playing and listening to music.
